Aisslinger, Werner

Werner Aisslinger is an important German designer born in Nördlingen in 1964. Werner Aisslinger currently lives and works in Berlin, dealing with design and architecture. He collaborated with numerous Italian furniture brands such as Cappellini, Zanotta, Magis and Porro. Also worked on architectural projects for Mercedes-Benz, Adidas, IC-Berlin, Marc'o Polo, Bombay Saphire, FSB, Hugo Boss.

Werner Aisslinger contributed introduce new materials and techniques into the product design world. This is the case, for example, of the exclusive gel furniture made in 2000 for the Italian company Zanotta or of the Juli chair, object of furniture designed for Cappellini, made with a new material called integral polyurethane foam. The Juli chair is the first German chair project to have been chosen to be exhibited at the permanent exhibition of the MoMA in New York since 1964. Werner Aisslinger has received prestigious awards from around the world including the Compasso d'Oro, the Red Dot Award and the FX Award. For Foscarini Werner Aisslinger creates Behive lamps, which present themselves as elegant modern sculptures where the decoration in the lamp is the light itself.
